Carmen Emerson-Bass, owner/baker of Cake Couture, offers two genres of hand-size treats: “Classics are the nostalgic kind, with sweet frosting. Gourmet is a grown-up cupcake, perhaps filled with lemon curd or marsh-mallow.” Both styles are baked fresh daily with all-natural ingredients. “No Crisco!” says Emerson-Bass. “Madagascar vanilla, Valrhona chocolate, puréed strawberries ...” There’s only one thing wrong with her cupcakes: they sell out. Call ahead to make sure there are cupcakes left, or, reserve a few in advance.
