Fans of Ulalena—Maui’s nationally acclaimed production featuring a circus of dancers, acrobats and musicians—will be happy to hear that its creators have cooked up something new for Honolulu. This month, the Royal Hawaiian Center is scheduled to debut Waikiki Nei in its new, $22 million theater, billing the production as “one of the most innovative stage shows in Oahu history.” The 80-minute multimedia show tells the history of Waikiki using state-of-the-art technology, video, lighting and sound. Stick around after the show, when the 750-seat theater transforms into a nightclub lounge, with a 4,500-square-foot dance floor. Show tickets run from $49 to $99.
