Maui band Ekolu has been cranking out steady-chugging reggae for more than a decade now, and this new album keeps chugging in the same direction. But as their multiple Na Hoku awards and heavy local radio rotation demonstrate, novelty was never the point—this is lovers rock. Lead singer and composer Lukela Keala’s clear tenor makes just about any lyric sound romantic, and louche sax solos only help to seal the deal.
