This Outdoor Ice Skating Rink in Honolulu Won’t be Around for Long

Hurry up! This rink is open until Jan. 10, 2016.

Ice skating at the Rockefeller Center in New York City? Nope—this outdoor rink is right in the middle of Honolulu, in the courtyard of the IBM Building at Ward Village. It’s a temporary installation, and, to keep everything from melting in Hawai‘i’s balmy weather, a refrigeration system pumps coolant through tubes under the rink’s floor. If you like the idea of gliding over ice while taking in a view of Ala Moana Beach Park, the rink is open to the public through Jan. 10.

Ward Winter Village Ice Rink, IBM Building Courtyard 1240 Ala Moana Blvd. Fri. to Sun., 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mon. to Thurs., 4 to 9 p.m. For more hours, prices and other info, visit wardvillageshops.com/icerink.
