Whale entanglement season is upon us
It's whale watching season in Hawaii, which, unfortunately, also means it's whale stranding and entanglement season, too. We were sorry to see that a baby humpback died Monday on the reef near Aina Haina. The Marine Mammal Response Network, which we wrote about last November, did what it could to help. But sadly, as is often the case when whales strand themselves, there wasn't much that could be done for the animal.
