DVD: The Ride

Nathan Kurosawa’s The Ride, which won the 2003 Audience Award for Best Feature at the 2003 Louis Vuitton Hawai‘i International Film Festival, drew more than 15,000 at its Sunset on the Beach screening that year. Now, you can catch the indie flick—about a cocky surf champ who goes back in time to learn the true meaning of surfing from none other than Duke Kahanamoku—at a television near you. Locally, it’s available on DVD at Borders Books and Music and, within the next few months, will be distributed nationally.

The Ride, Third Reef Pictures, www.thirdreefpictures.com, $16.99
