Free Breakfast for First Responders
In honor of 9/11, this Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., Tiki's Grill and Bar is hosting a free breakfast in Waikiki for the men and women of the Honolulu Fire Department, Honolulu Police Department, and Emergency Medical Services.
The free breakfast is being offered to honor the first responders and rescue personnel of our community and to honor the first responders of the September 11, 2001 bombing of the World Trade Center in New York City, many of whom lost their lives nine years ago to the day of this event. Tiki's Grill and Bar, with the help from their vendors, plans to feed as many as 1000 of Honolulu’s first responders on Saturday morning.
“It’s only been nine years since 9/11 and we’re afraid people are forgetting.” said Bill Tobin, managing partner of Tiki's Grill and Bar, “We want people to remember and what better way than to honor Honolulu’s heroes?” Tiki’s plans to open early at 6 a.m. on Saturday with a free breakfast buffet, live music, and “the appreciation of our community” to serve the men and women of HPD, HFD, and EMS.
Free valet parking is being offered. If that parking fills up, they suggest that people park just a short distance from Tiki's at the Waikiki Shell or at metered parking along Kalakaua Ave in Kapiolani Park. The buffet line will end at 10 a.m. and Tiki’s will be open to the public for lunch at 10:30am.
