Valentine's Day Gift Ideas

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas

A leather wallet is a classy V-day gift for a practically-minded woman.

If Cupid were a personal shopper, here’s what he might suggest as the perfect Valentine’s Day gift:

 If she’s Practical

The sleek design and quality of a nice leather wallet will appeal to her. The Ali Travel Zip Wallet ($198) from Cole Haan conveniently comes in red or pink. Other Valentine's Day ideas from Cole Haan can be seen here. Ala Moana Center, 941-1270.

If she Loves to Be Pampered

Whisk her to the new Trump International Hotel on the Waikiki Beach Walk, which has a “Suite Deal” just for lovers. The special offer includes a $100 gift card for The Spa at Trump, breakfast in bed for two, a bottle of Champagne upon arrival and Hawaii-made chocolate truffles. The Suite Deal is valid for one-, two- and three-bedroom suite bookings and is available through March 20. Call 877-683-7401 to book.

 If she’s Wary of Roses

Instead of buying a dozen imported roses—which have to be flown all the way from Colombia—try a locally made product instead. A set of Kamuela Rose lotion and body wash is $36.50 at Lanikai Bath & Body. It’s made with rose petals, chamomile and lavender botanicals, blended with kukui, noni and macadamia oils. 600 Kailua Road, 262-3260.

If she’s a Design Lover

She’ll thrill to Tiffany & Co.'s hammered, chic and meaningful ring in 18k rose-gold. It was designed by Paloma Picasso, and is $200.  (Multiple locations in Hawaii.)

If she’s Naughty

Affinitas Intimates company representatives tell me they specialize in affordable, yet racy, lingerie styles. Prices run from $8 to $58, in a large range of sizes for different body types. The line is carried locally at Sensually Yours. 1130 N. Nimitz Hwy. 599-1655.

Victoria’s Secret (Ala Moana Center, 951-8901) has the usual pretty underthings, but you could go spicier and buy a Edible Body Icing in Midnight Chocolate ($15).

And Speaking of Love…Love Carefully!

February 14 also kicks off National Condom Week. UH Manoa has its annual Condom Fair on Feb. 12 at the Campus Center Mall, and yes, free condoms will be available.
