Tasty Shopping Deals

If you’ve ever been to a Fashionista’s Market sample sale, you’ll be thrilled to hear that it’s about to open as a brick-and-mortar store on Bethel Street. You’ll still find cute stuff at great prices, but won’t have to wait for the next sale to roll around for goodies by Voom, Rock and Republic, Romeo & Juliet Couture and other brands. The store kicks off with a “pre-renovation” shopping party tomorrow, Aug. 7, from 3 to 10 p.m. and this Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s at 1183 Bethel Street.

The publisher of my book, The Ultimate Guide to Shopping on Oahu, was so excited to hear that Fashionista’s Market is opening a store, they’ve decided to give FM savings passes (good for 20 percent off your purchase of $100 or more of regularly priced merchandise) with the purchase of the book at www.bookshawaii.net. (You don’t need a coupon code; you just buy the book and they’ll give you the certificate.)

Down the street from Fashionista’s Market, there’s another in the crop of the “custom, DIY” fro-yo places opening Aug. 12. Yogen Fruz will be on Fort Street Mall, in the storefront vacated by Taco Bell. On opening day, it’s buy one yogurt, get one free.

And speaking of sweets, I also heard a rumor that Hawaii Kai’s little women's clothing boutique, Cookie Clothing Co., featured in our June issue, will be opening a second store at Windward Mall. Stay tuned…

So nice to see all these new businesses opening or expanding. It should give us all hope that we may never need to use the word 'economy' as an excuse ever again!
