Wallow in Marshmallow
Okay, confess: Easter has passed, but you’re still making your way through the cellophane-wrapped joy that is leftover Peeps. So what to do with all these sugary little chickens and bunnies? I found some wacky, Islands-inspired ideas in the cookbook Peeps!: Recipes and Crafts to Make with Your Favorite Marshmallow Treat.
Author Charity Ferreira suggests a Peeps Mai Tai—in addition to the usual cocktail umbrella, cherry and pineapple wedge, skewer on a marshmallow chick. Festive! Or, try the Peeps lei. You’ll need string, fresh flowers, a large embroidery needle and vegetable oil, to keep the Peeps from sticking to the needle as you string them.
Still have Peeps left over? Freeze them! Many Peeps aficionados swear they taste best this way. Or, you can order the cookbook and try your hand at Peeps fondue. www.chroniclebooks.com.
