Helping patients smile with confidence by providing the highest level of orthodontic care is considered a privilege by Dr. Won Chaekal and her warm and caring staff. “We know that orthodontic treatment can be a transformative experience for many of our patients, and we want to make every patient’s experience as rewarding and pleasant as possible,” says Dr. Chaekal, a native of Korea who came to the United States for her professional education.

A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Dr. Chaekal received her DDS and her Certificate in Orthodontics from Columbia University. She and her team specialize in offering a variety of personalized orthodontic treatment options, including both conventional braces and Invisalign®, a state-of-the-art orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, removable and comfortable aligners created through 3-D computer-imaging technology specifically for you. Dr. Chaekal was one of the first orthodontists to offer Invisalign® in Hawaii, and she is designated an Elite Provider (reserved for the top 1 percent of Invisalign® Providers nationwide).

Staying at the forefront of new treatments and technologies by participating in continuing education classes and seminars throughout the year is a priority for Dr. Chaekal, who is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Hawaii Society of Orthodontists.

Helping people of all ages understand if orthodontics is right for them in their dental care, Dr. Chaekal provides a free initial consultation for all new patients. She encourages parents to follow the American Orthodontics Association’s recommendation that children be screened by an orthodontist by age seven. “Many orthodontic problems are easier to correct at a young age while a child’s dentition is still growing. Correcting these problems early aids in developing a stable bite, proper alignment of the teeth, and self-confidence” explains Dr. Chaekal.

With patients ranging in age from 7 to 80, she also emphasizes that “teeth can be moved at any age and straight teeth can help in making cleaning easier and improving gum health as people age. Orthodontics is an integral part of your oral as well as overall health,” she says. Dr. Chaekal points out that new research indicates a relationship between poor oral health and more serious health problems, such as heart conditions and diabetes.

Patients feel welcome and well-cared for in Dr. Chaekal’s neat and stress-free office environment. “My patients are like a second family to me, and it is my pleasure to help them achieve beautiful healthy smiles,” she says.
