HONOLULU Magazine is involved in the promotion and planning of a number of wonderful events throughout the year. Here is a look at some of those events and how you can learn more about each.

Honolulu Academy of Arts

Because you can’t spell party without a-r-t! Join HONOLULU Magazine the last Friday of each month (February to October) from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Honolulu Academy of Art’s ARTafterDARK evening soiree.

Annual Events

Made In Hawaii Festival

August 19-21, 2011
Neal S. Blaisdell Arena and Exhibition Hall

Produced by the Made in Hawaii Association and presented by First Hawaiian Bank, this annual expo brings together the best that Hawaii has to offer in a chance to “Buy Hawaii, Keep Aloha Strong."

HONOLULU Magazine, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and a number of award-winning chefs, puts together cooking demonstrations throughout the event. Get the recipes here.

Hawaii Restaurant Association Hall of Fame

Annually in September

The Hawaii Restaurant Association inducted its 3rd class of honorees at this annual Hall of Fame dinner and "Chefs of Aloha" Dine-Around on September 21, 2009. HONOLULU put together a special program to honor these exemplary leaders of our restaurant and food service community which was distributed at the event and through the October 2009 issue.

Hawaii State Farm Fair

Annually in July
Bishop Museum

Experience this annual celebration of local agriculture and shop for fresh produce. All while enjoying the festivities including food, Keiki rides & games and live entertainment.

Produced by the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation, the event brings together farmers from across the state and organizations committed towards the "eat local" movement.

Hawaii Book & Music Festival

Annually in May
Frank E. Fasi Civic Grounds at Honolulu Hale

Take part in the annual celebration of story and song on the weekend of May 14-15 at the Frank E. Fasi Civic Grounds at Honolulu Hale. Interact with your favorite local authors and enjoy beautiful Hawaiian music throughout the festival.

Admission to the festival is free and takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.

L'ulu - Leeward Culinary Arts Gala

Saturday, May 7, 2011 ~ 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Leeward Community College

HONOLULU Magazine is proud to be a sponsor and supporter of L'ulu: Leeward Culinary Arts Gala, a benefit for Leeward Community College's Culinary Arts Program. Each year, the school honors a Hawaii Regional Cuisine chef, creating a HRC Wall of Fame. Past honorees include chefs Alan Wong, Philippe Padovani and Roy Yamaguchi. This year's event will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hawaii Regional Cuisine . The event treats guests to a wonderful evening of indulgence delighting the senses with great food, beverage and music.

Chinatown Chase

Annually in February

HONOLULU has been a sponsor of the annual Chinatown Chase, a fundraiser for the Hawai‘i Theatre, for the past two years. Nowhere else can you experience the brilliant adventure and pure fun of cracking codes and facing daring feats in an all out quest to the finish line.

Hawaii International Film Festival

Semi-annually in April & October

HONOLULU has been a long time supporter of HIFF, and was a sponsor of the Fall Festival's Best Short Film award from 2005-2008.

HIFF is an organization providing Hawaii with the best selection of current international, artistic and independent films, with a mission of promoting a cultural understanding of the East and West through the art of cinema.

The Sakamaki Extraordinary Lectures

HONOLULU Magazine was a supporter of the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Outreach College summer lecture series.

The 2010 series was inspired by the HONOLULU Magazine article "Our Geniuses" and provided an opportunity to meet some of the gifted individuals profiled there.

Hawaii Food & Wine Paradise

Annually in May

Hawaii Food & Wine Paradise offers the best in food, wine, spirits, entertainment and fashion at beautiful Ko Olina Resort and Waikiki. The event welcomes a number of culinary talents from around the world along with our local chefs to celebrate and raise funds for educational programs in Leeward Oahu.

ArtMania

Annually in April

A showcase of art demonstrations, interactive activities, exhibitions, performances, and sales at the University of Hawaii. Put on by the Art Department and its students, the event takes place on the first Sunday in April at the University's Art Building. Admission is free, and event-goers can enjoy demonstrations of art in a vartiety of mediums.

Maui Onion Festival

Annually, the first Saturday in May

HONOLULU Magazine is a sponsor of the  annual Maui Onion Festival at Whaler’s Village on Kaanapali Beach on Maui. Every year guests have an opportunity enjoy a number of popular contests, performances, keiki shows and activities, food booths, a ‘Grown on Maui’ Farmers’ Market and more centered around the Maui Kula Onion. Oahu Dines

Annually in February/March

A fundraiser for the Life Foundation. Various restaurants on Oahu provided good food for a great cause. Participating restaurants donate a percentage of their proceeds earned during the selected day to the Life Foundation to aid their work in fighting AIDS in Hawaii and the Pacific.

Shop a Le‘a

Annually in March

Seven *blissful* days of shopping euphoria! Every year, Ala Moana Center presents a fashion and shopping event unlike any other. The week features beauty, fashion and cuisine seminars at Centerstage, special in-store events, an exclusive limited edition gift with purchase, a getaway giveaway, parties, fabulous sales and much more.

Ultimate Shopping Experience

A one-time celebration on January 24, 2009

Watermark Publishing, Fashionista's Market, the Honolulu Design Center and HONOLULU Magazine sponsored a special event that celebrated the release of executive editor Kathryn Drury Wagner's book The Ultimate Guide to Shopping on Oahu, from Watermark Publishing. 16 vendors will participated in this fun opportunity to boutique shop in one location. Special seminars were also offered throughout the day.
