Respected ophthalmologist and eye surgeon Dr. Tyrie Jenkins has been helping Hawaii see better for more than 20 years. Through a culture of compassionate care, she improves the quality of life for patients of all ages.
Her practice, Jenkins Eye Care, offers a full range of ophthalmology services, from LASIK and cataract surgery to routine eye exams. This fall she will offer laser-assisted cataract surgery. “This new technology takes cataract treatment to the next level and will help ensure increased safety and precision, helping patients be independent of glasses and contacts,” Dr. Jenkins says.
Her interest in technological advancements has earned her a reputation as one of Hawaii’s medical pioneers. Dr. Jenkins performed the state’s first LASIK procedure in 1997, making her one of the most experienced laser refractive surgeons in Hawaii.
The immediate past-president of the Women’s Fund of Hawaii remains active in the organization and sits on Hawaii Public Radio’s board. She also serves as an advisor to Project Vision, a mobile service providing retinal screenings in communities with poor access to care.
A consummate learner, Dr. Jenkins is pursuing her Masters of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.
