The Hau Tree Lanai is sure to impress visitors, but it's also a "poof! instant vacation" opportunity for locals. The open-air terrace is one of the few places in Waikiki where you can dine al fresco. Service can be a little spotty, and yes, the food is pricey--you're paying for that sand and ocean view--but the portions are large and the food is excellent. Open for breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., lunch Monday through Saturday from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Sunday from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.; dinner is served nightly from 5:30 to 8:30. Reservations recommended.
