Hidden away in Wailuku, AK's Cafe boasts a menu built around "local fair and healthy food." Watch through the open kitchen as chef Elaine Rothermel cooks up some of the most popular dishes: blackened ono with mango basil ($10.25), rib-eye steak with beef and vegetables from local farmers ($16), or the crowd-pleasing crab cakes ($15). You can also get chef Elaine's crab cakes at certain grocers on Oahu. Rothermel focuses on good prices for quality food and service. In her words, "If you've been here before, we know what you're going to eat when you come back." Open Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
