What Honolulu Services, Malls and Stores are Open or Closed for Christmas 2017

Your winter guide to which Honolulu City and County services and retail stores will be available or suspended in observance of Christmas Eve and Day on Dec. 24 and 25, 2017.

On Sunday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve)

  • Costco will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
     

  • Sam’s Club will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
     

  • Walmart will be open until 6 p.m.
     

  • All Walgreens and Longs Drugs locations will be open during their regular hours.
     

  • All Foodland locations will be open until 10 p.m.
     

  • Safeway Beretania and Kapahulu will be open 24 hours. All other Safeway locations will be open until 7 p.m.
     

  • Times will be open until 11 p.m. (Mililani Times is open until midnight.) Fujioka’s will be open until 9 p.m.
     

  • Ala Moana Center, Kāhala Mall, Windward Mall, Pearlridge Center and Ka Makana Ali‘i will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
     

  • Ward Village Shops and Waikele Premium Outlets will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
     

  • Royal Hawaiian Center and International Market Place will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
     

  • Waikīkī Yokocho will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight.

 

On Monday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day)

What’s Open

  • All Zippy’s locations will be open. (Christmas menu specials are available from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on both Dec. 24 and 25, while supplies last.)
     

  • All Regal and Consolidated movie theaters will be open during regular hours.
     

  • Royal Hawaiian Center and International Market Place will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
     

  • Waikīkī Yokocho will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight.
     

  • Walgreens and Longs Drugs locations that are open 24 hours a day will remain open. Other locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. All Longs Drugs pharmacies will be closed.
     

  • Safeway Beretania and Kapahulu will be open 24 hours. All other Safeway locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
     

  • The Pali and West Loch golf courses will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for 18-hole play and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for 9-hole play.

 

Available Services

  • Emergency ambulance, fire, lifeguard, medical examiner and police services will be on duty.
     

  • TheBus will operate on a Sunday schedule. Visit thebus.org for routes and other information.

 

Closed or Canceled Services

  • Honolulu City and County offices will be closed on Christmas Day.
     

  • Refuse will not be collected.
     

  • Transfer stations, convenience centers, H-POWER and the Waimānalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill will not be open. (Residents with once-a-week refuse and recycling pickup using the three-cart collection system are asked to leave gray refuse carts curbside to be picked up and to hold green and blue carts until the next scheduled pickup. Residents with twice-a-week manual refuse are asked to wait for the next scheduled pick-up date.)
     

  • The United States Postal Service, UPS and FedEx will neither deliver nor send mail. Post offices statewide will be closed.
     

  • The Neal S. Blaisdell Center box office will be closed.
     

  • The People’s Open Markets will not be held.
     

  • All Satellite City Halls and Driver Licensing Centers will be closed.
     

  • The Honolulu Botanical Gardens, the Honolulu Zoo and the Waikīkī Aquarium will be closed.
     

  • The Ala Wai, Kahuku, Ted Makalena and ‘Ewa Villages golf courses will be closed.
     

  • All Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Times and Foodland locations will be closed islandwide.
     

  • Ala Moana Center, the Ward Village Shops, Kāhala Mall, the Waikele Premium Outlets, Windward Mall, Pearlridge Center and Ka Makana Ali‘i will be closed.

 

Traffic and Parking Regulations

  • There will be free on-street parking, excluding the meters on Kalākaua Avenue along Queen Kapi‘olani Park and metered parking lots.
     

  • Traffic lanes will not be coned for contraflow.
