Indulge Yourself This Holiday Season With These 4 Pumpkin Treats

Try these seasonal specials before they run out.

It’s the last few days between Halloween and Thanksgiving, aka pumpkin primetime. Before everyone makes the switch to peppermint and eggnog, try these four pumpkindulgences around town.

Pumpkin bread at Fendu Boulangerie

Made with pureed pumpkin and packed with nuts, this moist treat is a subtle alternative to the rich and heavy offerings that make up most pumpkin-inspired desserts. The perfect accompaniment to a cup of hot tea on a brisk fall morning.

$4.75 for small, $8.75 for medium, $12.25 for large, 2752 Woodlawn Drive, #5-119, 988-4310.

Pumpkin custard at La Palme D’Or

A simple pumpkin custard pudding layered with homemade whipped cream and garnished with pumpkin seeds is La Palme D’Or’s light, delicious take on this seasonal flavor. Creamy and cool, we aren’t the only ones it has won over—the pudding is a popular fall and winter treat among D’Or’s diners. But don’t make up your mind too quickly—there’s also a tart, made of pumpkin puree and real kabocha, warm fall spices and a homemade shell.

$3.75, at Ala Moana Center, 941-6161, lapalmedor-usa.com

Pumpkin crunch at Via Gelato

Via Gelato’s constantly changing menu puts you at the mercy of owner and gelato It-girl Melissa Bow—not to mention the high demand from her hordes of admiring customers. Last month, the pumpkin flavor du jour was pumpkin spice latte. Right now, it's pumpkin crunch (though the store is out today), a creamy, holiday-appropriate pumpkin base speckled with shortbread cookie bits.

$3.14 for a scoop, $4.50 regular, 1142 12th Ave., 732-2800, viagelatohawaii.com

Pumpkin pie truffles at Choco le‘a

The revolving flavors in Choco le‘a’s new shop currently feature a special for today only: A glob of fresh pumpkin pie sits on Choco le‘a's signature ganache, coated in silky chocolate goodness. We recommend a gift box (for a loved one or yourself) before they’re all gone, but a little birdie told us they might be back on Friday. The shop is open until 5 p.m. today.

$2.25, 2909 Lowrey Ave., 371-2234, chocolea.com
