Where to eat for St. Patrick's Day

You’re going to need something to accompany your St. Patrick’s Day liquid diet of green beers, Guinness, Black and Tans and Irish Car Bombs. Some suggestions:

If you are downtown in the block party mayhem, then of course the obvious choice is Murphy’s, this year celebrating its 25th St. Patrick’s Day Party. Apparently the brewers of Guinness have declared Murphy’s party “the single biggest St. Patrick’s Day party any one bar throws in the United States.” Starting at lunchtime, Murphy's will serve up Guinness braised lamb shanks, Blarney burgers, corned beef and cabbage. Also on offer is a Guinness Oyster Bar. For dessert: Mrs. Murphy’s homemade Irish Whiskey cake and traditional bread pudding with whiskey sauce. 531-0422

St. Patrick’s Day is 12th Ave Grill’s favorite holiday. Specials include a lamb shepherd’s pie, house-cured Maui Cattle Co. corned beef brisket and cabbage, Harp beer battered opakapaka with duck fat fried chips. 732-9469

Over at SALT, bar bites include Guinness braised lamb sliders, corned beef tongue and a Guinness ice cream float. 744-7567

 At the Kahala, enjoy corned beef and cabbage for $15 and wash it down witha $5 Guinness. Available all day at the Plumeria Beach House and at dinner at Hoku’s and the Veranda. 367-2525

Slide into one of the booths at Side Street Inn on da Strip and enjoy a more low key St. Patrick’s Day with corned beef and cabbage sliders and $4.50 pints of Guinness (you get to keep the glass, too!). 739-3939
