Wintry and Holiday Drinks in Honolulu

It's the holidays and you look like you need a drink. To get you in the mood (or out of one), here are a few seasonal, holiday-inspired drinks around town:

The Modern hosts a free hot-chocolate bar at The Study, where you can top your mug with fresh-whipped vanilla cream, peppermint sticks, house-made lilikoi marshmallows, caramel, chocolate shavings and more. Spike it with whipped-cream-flavored vodka for $5. The day after Christmas, head to the Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar by the Sunrise Pool, which will offer fresh-squeezed juices, bacon, celery, hot sauces and more to stir into your drink.
Hot chocolate bar offered December 10, 13, 17, 20 from 5 to 7 p.m.; Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar December 26, 9 a.m. to noon.

The Pig and the Lady opens for dinner starting tonight, which means now you can get seasonally-inspired pau-hana drinks such The Acid Trip, with pomegranate shrub (a vinegary fruit syrup), blanc vermouth, gin and bitters.

Be the star bartender at your holiday party after a cocktail workshop at Bevy. Christian Self will teach you to mix some basics such as a holiday mulled wine to a hot buttered toddy, as well as some more advanced drinks like Santa's Lil' Helper, a brandy milk punch. If you miss out on the lesson (there are only a few spots left), or just want someone else to handle the drinks, stop by Bevy for a different holiday cocktail special every day.
Holiday cocktail workshop December 15, $30, email info@bevybar.com to reserve. Holiday cocktails served December 17 through 24. bevybar.com

Holiday cocktails at Tropics Bar and Grill at the Hilton Hawaiian Village include Deck the Halls, a liquid version of a ginger snap cookie, with rum and ginger spice syrup, and White Christmas, an eggnog spiked with bourbon and white creme de cacao. Warm up with a Hawaiian Hot Buttered Rum sweetened with caramelized pineapple or Here We Come A-Wassailing, a warm apple cider spiced with cinnamon, clove, orange and brandy.

Egg nog for people who don't like egg nog. Mike Hall at 12th Ave Grill shakes up a Figgy Flip with figs soaked in house-spiced rum, vanilla, cream, sugar and egg white for a frothy concoction.
