Ice Fru’s Fruit and Ice Cream Pops

You might not expect to find an ice-pop shop inside a Korean supermarket, but we’re glad we did: Ice Fru’s collection of all-natural pops, from pineapple-mango to ube to cream cheese, hits the spot on a post-storm, sweltering Sunday.

Ice cream and fruit bars fill the display case just inside the door of Palama Supermarket in the Waimalu Shopping Center. From shave ice to hot dogs, Ice Fru sells a range of snacks for hungry shoppers. We went for the adorable heart-shaped pops, because who wouldn’t?

The lilikoi pop tasted light and fresh, though a bit more ice than fru. The pineapple mango bar was an immediate winner: strong, bright flavors, and supremely refreshing in the 90-degree heat.

It would be nice if the supermarket could provide tables or chairs so we don’t have to stand awkwardly in the corner or wander through the store while we eat, because once we stepped out of the air conditioning, we were covered in a sticky mess. But at least it was a sweet one.

$3.75 a pop
