Theaters of Hawaii Photography

Bailey and Lawson’s - Whatever the show was at Bailey and Lawson’s Art Theatre on Hotel Street around 1908, the men in the projection booth were ready as patrons crowded the aisles for it. Apart from the ladies’ large hats, there was nothing fancy in this theater, as open knob and tube wiring ran along the walls, just below the corrugated tin roof. Even with the open windows, the small wall fans could not have helped much. It closed in 1910 after only three years of operation.
