Johnny - This photograph from around 1932 shows organist Johnny DeMello at the console of the Palace Theatre’s three-manual, seven-rank Robert Morton organ. He began his long tenure as an organist and manager with Consolidated Amusement in 1928 and played at many of their theaters, including the Hilo for 10 years and the Waikiki for 23 years. He retired in 1978, ending an incredible musical career of 50 years.
