Kaimuki Community Park

With its full-featured playground and range of publicly accessible athletic courts, the Kaimuki Community Park is one of the neighborhood’s liveliest spots. It’s also one of Honolulu’s oldest city parks, officially established in 1930 with a dirt basketball court and a grass field. Marcia Mitchell of the City and County Department of Parks and Recreation says the 2.75-acre lot was likely a gift from Thomas and Jennie Hollinger, who transferred the deed to the city in 1917.

Today, the park acts as a hub of activity for young and old alike, hosting activities ranging from Summer Fun and youth basketball leagues to belly dancing.
