When Hide Sakurai was chosen as HONOLULU Magazine’s Restaurateur of the Year in 2016, he knew that the award belonged to all of his team members. The following year, the entire team was awarded with the similar honors, winning “Best Mexican,” “Best Japanese” and “Best New Restaurant.” Sakurai is known for his innovation; however, it is his uncanny knack for architecting a diverse team of what he calls being “uniformly ununiform” that he considers the key to his success.
