Sunspots ruining that once radiant skin? Workouts won’t banish that belly fat? Relax. These modern, non-invasive procedures can conquer any aesthetic issue. Local experts share the details on their top accessible innovations to smooth away wrinkles, diminish problem areas, and make you feel more confident and beautiful than ever before.

Remodel and Rejuvenate Your Skin

Procedure Names: LumiFacial®, LumiLift® and Skin Remodeling treatments

The Patient: Men and women of any age looking for a non-invasive, non-surgical anti-aging treatment to rejuvenate and revitalize skin.

How it works: LumiFacial® uses four different colors of LED light therapy to repair skin cells and treat common skin problems, such as minor acne, redness, and uneven pigmentation. The LumiLift® is a photo-rejuvenation procedure ideal for lifting face, eyes, and chest, and minimizing lines and wrinkles.  The Skin Remodeling treatment stimulates collagen in the deeper layers of the skin, replacing aged and sun-damaged collagen, tightening, lifting muscles and smoothing wrinkles.

Risks Factors: Slight redness may occur depending on the patient.

Recovery: Relax for five to ten minutes after procedure; little to no recovery time needed for most clients, with many clients seeing results after one session.

Maintenance: A good skin care regimen combined with a monthly maintenance treatment is recommended for optimal results.  Without maintenance, may last up to nine to 12 months.

Costs: Prices start at $70 for LumiFacial® and $190 for Lumilift® or Skin Remodeling, and vary upon the number of sessions.

The Expert: Lisa Fulton at Hoku Beauty & Day Spa, Ala Moana Building, 1441 Kapiolani Blvd. #2020, Honolulu, HI 96814, 808-941-1166, www.hokubeautyspa.com.

Rejuvenate and Look Younger in Just One Visit

Procedure Names: Botox® and Injectable Fillers

The Patient: Men and women who want to naturally enhance and restore their appearance by reducing facial wrinkles, or prevent them from occurring.

How they work: Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are the three types of Botox® available, and are all equally effective. They can reduce frown lines and wrinkles between the brows, forehead and crow’s feet. An injection of botulinum toxin also relaxes the muscles, reducing the activity that causes wrinkles. One 10-minute treatment can produce results that last up to four months. Facial Fillers are injectables, such as Juvederm®, Restylane®, Perlane® and Radiesse®, that can instantly smooth away wrinkles around the mouth, enhance cheekbones, create fuller lips, and diminish bagginess around the eyes. This treatment is often called a “liquid lift” because it takes one short visit with results lasting up to one year.

Risk Factors: Minor redness and swelling which are self-limited and brief. Minor discomfort at injection site with occasional bruising is possible.

Recovery: Typically patients can return to work immediately.

Maintenance: Botox® typically lasts three to four months; facial fillers typically six months to a year.

Cost: Varies depending on the individual patient’s needs.

One Size Smaller in One Hour, Without Surgery

Procedure Name: Liposonix® treatment

The Patient: Men and women looking to safely and non-surgically treat their problem areas and remove stubborn abdominal fat.

How it Works: The Liposonix® treatment uses high-intensity ultrasound technology to permanently destroy targeted fat around your waistline and other problem areas. The body naturally removes the treated fat, leaving you looking noticeably thinner after just one treatment, with maximum results seen in 8 to 12 weeks. The hour-long treatment does not harm your skin. This procedure is not a replacement for a healthy lifestyle, or a way to lose weight.

Risk Factors: Backed by over 10 years of research, the treatment poses no significant risks to the patient. Occasional discomfort, slight pain, and tingling may occur during and after the treatment. Temporary bruising or redness on the treated areas can also occur post-treatment.

Recovery: No recovery is necessary for this non-invasive treatment. Most people go back to work and resume their daily lifestyle right after.

Maintenance: No special post-care is required, but it is recommended to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle after the treatment.

Cost: Varies depending on the individual patient’s needs.
