Dedication plaque of the facility, now known as the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center at the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument. Locally, Mason Architects, of Honolulu, had a hand in the project dating back to repair work for the previous center and took care of the bulk of the construction documents and construction administration for Portico.

In my original column, and in this slide show, I’ve focused on the look and feel of the visitor center exterior, not its interiors or exhibits. AldrichPears Assoc., of Vancouver, Canada, took the lead on the new museum exhibits.
