Out of 25 invited participants, six of Hawaii’s best bartenders made it to the finals of the 2013 Bacardi Oakheart Iron Bartender competition on April 2 at The Republik. Christian Self (39 Hotel), Justin Park (Manifest), Alicia Yamachika (Nobu, Uncle Bo's and Pint & Jigger), Dave Newman (Pint & Jigger), Roxanne Siebert (V Lounge and The Safehouse) and Mo Sanford (The Safehouse) successfully qualified to compete in the finals. They competed in four rounds: Original cocktail; speed and accuracy (competitors had to accurately pour three different measured shots and a 5 oz wine glass and make a long island ice tea, vodka cranberry and 2 kamikaze shots as quickly as possible); personality and a mystery ingredients box (shiso leaf, lime, Monster energy drink, dragon's eye fruit, raw egg, molasses and Peeps). Justin Park from the Manifest won the overall competition, winning a trip for two to Las Vegas.
