Converging Epistemologies: Posthumanism and Transhumanism Discussion

Date/Time

Mar 16, 2018
06:30 PM until 08:00 PM

Description

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Converging Epistemologies series will focus on human bodies and what it means to be human in the digital age. Among the topics that will be discussed:

  • What does it mean to be human?

  • Is it our bodies, our intellect, our ability to empathize?

  • As we externalize our memory into computers, shift our relationships to the virtual, and edit specific genes in human embryos, does this definition change?

  • What will happen when we colonize planets other than earth?
