The fight to end breast cancer will take a fashionable turn as Susan G. Komen Hawaiʻi presents its fifth annual Pink Tie Ball at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, A Luxury Collection Resort on Friday, March 18, 2016.
This year’s honoree is Angela Pratt, MD, who is Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kapiʻolani Medical Center, Clinical Assistant Professor at John A. Burns School of Medicine, and has decades of involvement in the beauty and fashion industry, is being recognized for excellence in the field of women’s health, including breast health and awareness.
Tying high couture in with the effort to find the cures for breast cancer, four design stars from Project Runway will be showcasing fashions from their latest collections: Ari South, Kini Zamora, Sean Kelly, and Alexander Knox. Modeling some their pieces will be breast cancer survivors and some of top models. These generous designers are taking their philanthropy one step further by donating one outfit for a live auction, which will be custom-fit for the auction winner.
For more than 20 years, monies raised at Susan G. Komen have funded well over $3 million for local hospitals and agencies that provide breast health and breast cancer education, clinical and diagnostic exams, treatment and support to thousands of uninsured and underinsured individuals throughout the islands.
On a national level, Susan G. Komen funds more breast cancer research than any other non-profit organization, and provides funds that support vital services for those who are facing the disease.
Individual tickets are $200 and table sponsorships of $3,000, $5,000, $10,000, and $15,000 for the Pink Tie Ball are available at www.komenhawaii.org.
