Our practice is deeply committed to the overall health of our patients. During our traditional dental examination, we check for signs and symptoms of airway-related dysfunctions, such as teeth grinding, crowded teeth, snoring, etc. Together with a patient’s medical history, these symptoms can point to potentially undiagnosed Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) or Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS).
In 2017, the ADA emphasized that “dentists are the only health care provider with the knowledge and expertise to provide oral appliance therapy (OAT).” Our office is trained to fabricate, adjust and validate efficacy of dental devices to treat Sleep Related Breathing Disorders (SRBD). We are also credentialed to deliver and assist patients with their CPAP breathing machines.
If an airway-related issue is present, we work collaboratively with a patient’s physician and provide referrals to our growing network of healthcare specialists who understand the importance of the dental-medical connection.
We are grateful and honored to have made Hawaii’s Best Dentists list for 10 consecutive years. A sincere and heartfelt mahalo to my entire office staff and my dental colleagues.
