Recognizing that oral and maxillofacial surgery can be life-changing, Dr. David Hiranaka followed his specialized dental and medical training with a fellowship in facial cosmetic surgery, which served as the foundation for his practice in Kailua-Kona. This year, marks his milestone 25th year of practice.

“Pursuing advanced training in facial aesthetic surgery is an extension of the skills required for reconstructive surgery and allows me the professional freedom to do my best for my patients,” says Dr. Hiranaka. His training concluded with a year-long fellowship in aesthetic facial plastic surgery at the Institute of Facial Surgery in Salt Lake City.

The Harvard-educated dentist, physician and surgeon graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1988. He obtained his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1990. He then completed a five-year integrated internship/residency in General Surgery and Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

“My experienced team and I strive to improve the patient experience through minimally invasive techniques in implant dentistry and associated jaw reconstruction,” says Dr. Hiranaka. “We utilize evidence-based treatments for facial rejuvenation for both surgical and non-invasive therapies.”

Certified by both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Hiranaka offers both traditional oral and maxillofacial services (wisdom teeth, dental implants, oral pathology and facial reconstruction) as well as full scope facial cosmetic surgery and skin care.
