As a retinal specialist, Dr. Pang successfully treats potentially blinding diseases such as retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Additionally, he manages general eye disorders, such as complex cataracts needing special treatment for astigmatism. He also treats patients who have difficulty seeing both far and near but do not wish to wear glasses any longer. He can offer them state-of-the art laser cataract surgery with multifocal intraocular lenses and femto laser technology. For patients afflicted with the wet form of macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, treatment can often be done in his office with laser surgery and intraocular injections to visually rehabilitate their eyes.
A faculty member of the John A. Burns School of Medicine, Dr. Pang has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in the most prestigious journals in ophthalmology and has given numerous lectures at regional, state and international eye meetings. He has been a past recipient of the distinguished Rhett Buckler’s Award for the best surgical video by the American Society of Retinal Specialists. An internationally renowned eye surgeon, he has pioneered innovative techniques in the management of dislocated intraocular lenses, ophthalmic anesthesia, and techniques in the management of complications of diabetic retinopathy.
