Dr. John Jiuliano believes in the patient/physician relationship. He evaluates, individualizes and personally discusses treatment options with each patient to provide non-surgical and surgical patient-centered care.

Aristotle said, “The hand is the tool of tools.” According to Dr. Jiuliano, our hands are used to create, earn a living, heal, participate in sports and hobbies and care for ourselves and our families. Problems that occur in the hand, wrist or elbow can negatively impact our quality of life.

Dr. Jiuliano is double board-certified in orthopedic surgery and hand surgery. After receiving his medical degree at Georgetown University, he completed his orthopedic surgery training at Tripler Army Medical Center, followed by completion of the Harvard Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. His practice encompasses both adult and pediatric general orthopedic and upper extremity surgery from the shoulder to the fingers. His areas of expertise include injuries involving fractures, tendon lacerations, ligament ruptures, and injuries requiring microscopic repair of nerves and vessels. Able to perform complex reconstructive procedures, he has addressed nerve injuries, deformities from fractures and soft tissue injuries, joint replacement surgery for arthritis and arthroscopic procedures.

Unique to his practice is his ability to successfully perform out-patient “wide-awake hand surgery,” a surgical approach utilizing local anesthetic without a tourniquet. Patients are not required to fast the night before surgery and their post-operative recovery time is very short. As assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at UH-JABSOM, Dr. Jiuliano is dedicated to training orthopedic residents. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Philippine Medical Association of Hawaii, and the Hawaii Orthopedic Association, where he served as the recent past-president.

Dr. Jiuliano has offices in Honolulu, ‘Aiea, West O‘ahu, and the Big Island. He provides orthopedic specialist care to the Big Island community and is available for patient appointments in Kona and North Hawai‘i.
